Two Bomb Blasts Kill 13 Troops, Injure 3 In Damascus, Syria

Syrian state media has reported that a roadside bomb attack in Damascus has killed 13 military personnel and wounded three others. A third bomb was defused by army engineers. The explosives went off when the bus was near Hafez al-Assad bridge in the city and it is believed that they were placed to target maximum casualties on a busy work day. No entity has claimed responsibility for the attack thus far.

The Syrian ‘civil war’ which has dragged on for 10 years is now mostly closing in favour of the ruling president, Bashar al-Assad. Damascus has not seen major disturbances or conflicts since government forces took over control of it in 2018-19. The north and northeast of the country are currently held by various rebel groups.
