Protests against agricultural bills, recently passed by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, have been steadily increasing across the country. Farmers in Punjab have started their pre-announced 'rail roko' agitation against the farm bills which will become law after President's assent. Expressing strong resentment over the bills, members of the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee sat on railway tracks in Amritsar and raised slogans against the government.
The committee has announced to hold the 'rail roko' agitation in the state from 24 to 26 September. Meanwhile, on September 25, the Punjab unit of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee has announced a statewide strike, which has received the support of 31 farmer organisations.
