"Urdu is now an international language beyond the Indian sub-continent." said Dr Hamid Ansari speaking at the Bicentenary of Urdu Journalism celebrations this year. At a time when journalism itself is going through a testing time, the importance of Urdu journalism is more pressing as the community that uses the language most is living under a pall of persecution and a threat to their way of life.
In this eloquent lecture he gave at the inaugural function of Urdu Sahafat's Bicentenary, former Vice President of India and a retired diplomat of distinguished service to the nation, Dr Hamid Ansari, poses many questions on the past, present and future of Urdu Journalism.
