Mask Mandate Back In UP's Lucknow, NOIDA As COVID Cases Rise

The Uttar Pradesh has mandated the use of face masks in public spaces in Lucknow and 6 districts of Delhi NCR, days after notifying the administration to be on high alert amid an increase in COVID-19 cases seen in the past few weeks. A government spokesperson said that keeping in view the rising case numbers, the districts of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Merut, Bulandhshahr, Bagpat, and Lucknow will require mandatory use of face masks in public.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to identify those who are not fully vaccinated, and to prioritize those among them for inoculation who show symptoms of the infection. Aityanath has ordered ‘close monitoring’ since there have been 65 cases confirmed in Gautam Buddh Nagar, 20 in Ghaziabad, and 10 from Lucknow.
