On Day 2 of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha’s session, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the Punjab Assembly is “committed to protecting the state” and will even approach the Supreme Court in its effort to oppose the extension of the Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction to within 50 km. inside the state’s borders along its international border with Pakistan.
Punjab assembly unanimously passed a resolution against Centre's decision to extend the jurisdiction of the #BSF to a 50 km belt along the international border in state. We are committed to protect the Punjab and if required will approach Supreme court in this matter. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/hGxi7HkUct

He had tweeted earlier that he had proposed to the Centre to limit the jurisdiction zone to within 5 km and seal the border to prevent drug smuggling inside the state which has become a major problem and political issue. However, this was being blocked by the Akali Dal, he stated.
Opposition parties AAP and SAD (Akali Dal) raised slogans and staged a walkout respectively over nonavailability of DAP to farmers during the session as well.
