Russian Warship In Black Sea Severely Damaged, ‘No Nuclear-Free Baltic’ Warning To NATO

As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine enters its 50th day, Ukraine claims to have struck the Russian warship ‘Moskva’ in the Black Sea with two Neptune cruise missiles, causing ‘severe’ damage and forcing the crew to evacuate, as confirmed by Moscow. Moscow has also warned the NATO alliance on the membership of Sweden and Finland in the bloc, saying that it will have to shore up its defenses as a result and the idea of a ‘nuclear-free’ Baltic region will fail. “There can be no more talk of any nuclear–free status for the Baltic – the balance must be restored,”

Kharkiv: 4 Civilians Dead, 10 Injured In Shelling, Mariupol Surrender Reports Denied

Oleh Synyegubov, the governor of the region containing Kharkiv, the second-largest Ukrainian city, said that 10 civilians had been injured and 4 killed due to Russian shelling. The mayor of the southeastern port city of Mariupol denied reports that the city had surrendered to Russia, saying: “Mariupol was, is, and will continue to be a Ukrainian city” to German broadcaster ADR.

The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine posted today that it has registered over 6,000 “crimes of aggression and war crimes” against the Russian Federation, among others.

The UK Defence Ministry has also said that Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka in Ukraine are likely to face intensified shelling from Russia over the coming days. President Putin’s televised speech in which he said that Russia can neither be isolated nor ‘held back’, among other things, is being read as his “continued interest in the Donbas region”
