Over 30 lakh people lost their jobs in July 2021 amid signs of recovery in the Indian economy. New figures from the Center of Monitoring Economy show that 32 lakh jobs have been lost in India in the month of July alone. According to the data, 7.9 crore people had salaried jobs in June, while at the end of July it was 7.6 crore.

CMIE figures show that more people lost their jobs in cities than in villages. Jobs in cities stood at 4.8 crore in the month of June, while their number declined to 4.6 crore in July. About 26 lakh people lost their jobs in a month. Meanwhile, the number of small traders and laborers increased.
