Gross direct tax collection has come down by 31%, as per the latest RBI figures for the first quarter of this financial year. According to the Income Tax Department, ‘In the first quarter of FY 2020–21, till June 15, total advance collections fell by a massive 76.05 percent to Rs 11,714 crore.' In the first quarter of the financial year 2019-20, this figure was Rs 48,917 crore.
