The United Nation's Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group-1 report states that over the next few decades it is likely that heat and drought will lead to an increase in rainfall as well as an increase in cyclonic storms across India and the subcontinent.

The IPCC report has been published by scientists in collaboration with the governments of 195 countries, titled 'Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis'. The report said that the heat wave and humid summer would be more intense and persistent during this period. The report states that both annual and summer monsoon rainfall are likely to increase during the 21st century.
