Akhilesh Yadav, national president of Samajwadi Party, organised a press conference today in which he welcomed new members into the party and said that the promises made by the BJP in Uttar Pradesh have not been fulfilled even after 4.5 years.  He raised the issue of 'dhan' farmers not getting their due for their produce, and swiped at the BJP government for failing its 'double income' promise to farmers. 

He also brought up fuel prices hikes, especially at a time when crude was chea in the global makrets and Indians still had to shell out exorbitant taxes. He criticized the policy of disinvestment and privatization, and said that it is a direct affron to the idea of social justice as envisioned by Dr. Ambedkar by dismantling public institutions.
