In a press conference held at the #Congress Party headquarters in New Delhi, party leader Ashwani Kumar has raised questions about the arrest of party general secretary Pryanka Gandhi, who was on her way to #LakhimpurKheri to express support and solidarity with the bereaved families of the farmers who had been killed after aar ran over them. The allegation is that #AshishMishra, son of Union Minister of State (Home) #AjayMishra from the #BJP, not only drove over the protesting farmers but also fired at them. Ashwani Kumar refered to these allegations in the press conference and asked why he has not been arrested. We inform you that Ashish Mishra has been charged under IPC 320 (murder).

Ashwani Kumar asked if leaders and representatives do not have the right to express sympathy or solidarity with people who experience such a devastating tragedy. The actions against Priyanka Gandhi raise a fundamental question on whether or not the country is still democratic. He further asked what wrong Priyanka Gandhi had done by going to share the sorrow of those who had lost their loved ones in the incident.

Injustice must be addressedwith "concrete steps" and not mere words, Kumar further added, while demanding Priyanka Gandhi's immediate release.
