Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer of India who was involved in the film and music industry for over seven decades as a playback singer, breathed her last today on Sunday in Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital where she had been admitted for almost a month, due to health complications arising from COVID-19 and other issues. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the funeral at Mumbai's Shivaji Park stadium aklong with state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and other high profile politicians.

Her death is being mourned in India and around the world, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, artists, the film fraternity, and the general public since morning when the news broke. At present, her funeral ceremony is underway at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Mangeshkar began her playback career in 1948 and has been a cultural and artistic icon for over seventy years since.
