The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatic implications for geopolitics, for global economics and for everyone’s lives. Amid this, the Dialogue of Civilisations (DOC), an independent think tank based in Berlin, has launched a new webinar series ‘Global Pandemic: The Way forward’ aimed at fostering global dialogue and cooperation during the virus crisis.

With many of us being confined to homes, global dialogue is more necessary than ever at this time as global challenges indeed require international cooperation, not just national responses, the DOC said.

Watch live the first in DOC’s three-part global webinar series on ‘Global pandemic: The way forward. Scenarios for transformational change’, in partnership with GoNewsIndia.

Focusing on economics and the threat of global recession in light of the COVID-19 crisis this online webinar features expert speakers considering the following topics:

  • Potential depression and recovery forecasted
  • Emerging economic models – analysing crisis impact
  • Global supply chains explained
  • Production, trade, and work – imagining a post-crisis world

The three expert speakers for this topic include:

Jomo Kwame Sundaram, former United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development.

James K. Galbraith, an economist and professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, former advisor to the Sanders presidential campaign.

Vladimir Popov, former senior advisor at the UN dept. for Economic and Social Affairs and current research director at the DOC.
