Prime Minister Narendra Modi inauguarated India's 29th and Uttar PRadesh's 3rd international airport today with a view of connecting and developing eastern UP and surrounding areas.Kushinagar is a city of Buddhist importance as Gautam Buddha atained mahaparinirvana here. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son and a 125-member delegation are present for the ceremony. UP CM Ygi Adityanath, Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia  Nirmala Sitharaman are also present for the event. 

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Varanasi are the two other international airports in the state. A fourth in Gretaer Noida's Jewar is also under development.
