The coronavirus pandemic has impacted people living in diverse circumstances in a variety of ways. The Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR) has stated in a study that as compared to the first wave, the second wave saw three times as many miscarriages. 1,630 COVID-infected women were part of this study. These women experienced spontaneous miscarriages between 1 April 2020 t 4 July 2021 at the B.Y.L Nayar Charitable Hospital. The study uses the term “spontaneous miscarriage” which means miscarriage that occurs before 20 weeks of pregnancy, or the birth of an infant weighing less than 50 gm.
