Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has announced that he is floating a new political party. With this, he also proposed an alliance with the BJP, a party he has politically opposed since a long time, along with taking together other political parties such as Akali Dal for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Amarinder Singh said that he will form an alliance with the BJP after the farmers’ demands are met on their own terms. This has caused a flurry of speculation as to whether the Modi government at the Centre is willing to take this significant political risk in allying with the Captain to gain power in Punjab.
