Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh held a press conference today at the AICC headquarters in Delhi. The agenda of this press conference was to brief the press and country on the ongoing border situaion between India and China.

He cited China’s incursion into Indian territories and said that the country is tired of the PM’s claim that “no one has entered and no one is there” in Indian territory.

Vallabh said that the confirmation of a Chinese village in Arunachal Pradesh, retreating from Finger 4 to Finger 3 of Pangong-Tso lake, the push back of Indian troops behind the Kailash ranges, and enemy troop presence until the Y Junction of Depsang plains [in Aksai Chin] signifies a clear threat from China which India is not responding to.

He presented photographs of what he says are a defence and security researcher’s evidence of China’s recent incursions into Bhutan. China has built 4 villages in Bhutanese territories which range over 100 km2.  The villages and the strategically significant Doklam plateau are very close to each other. India and China had a major stand-off on the Doklam plateau in 2017.

He also quoted Chief of Eastern Army Command saying that increased Chinese troop and infrastructure build up in Chumbi valley directly threatens the Siliguri corridor, also referred to as the “chicken neck” connected India with its north-eastern states.
