Social media platform Twitter has a new CEO after its previous top executive Jack Dorsey decided that it was time to step back from his position. 37-year-old, Indian-origin Parag Agarwal, a n alumnus of IIT-Bombay is taking over the reins, but not without his share of controversy, something that the site in general is known to foment and amplify.

Agarwal’s old tweets and interviews have surface after the announcment which put him in the potential crosshairs of both the left and the right-wing political groupings on the site and the internet more generally. Some critics have also said that ‘Agarwal can prove to be a major threat to freedom of speech on Twitter’.

Who Is Parag Agarwal?

Parag Agarwal is a 37-year old employee of Twitter who has been working with the platforms since 2011. He graduated in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and then went on to study a PhD at Stanford University. He joined Twitter as a software engineer and became the CTO in 2017.
