Several States Impose Fresh Lockdown Amid Spike In
Amid the spike in Coronavirus cases, Lockdown is being imposed again in many states.

Following several states, the West Bengal government has now announced fresh lockdown in many areas including the capital Kolkata. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that there will be strict lockdown in the Containment Zone and Buffer Zone of the state. At the same time, the state capital Kolkata will undergo a strict lockdown from July 9 and it will remain in force till July 31.


Kerala had also declared a tougher lockdown due to the spread of infection in Thiruvananthapuram. Whereas Tamil Nadu Government in Chennai and Assam has increased the lockdown in three districts including Guwahati.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that a complete lockdown could be imposed if the COVID-19 situation worsens in the State.

Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa held an emergency meeting with Deputy CM Dr Ashwath Narayan and other ministers in Bengaluru over Coronavirus situation in the State. There is also a possibility of another lockdown.

Coronavirus infections have swamped after ICMR increased the testing across the country. Every day more than 22,000 are getting infected and 450 deaths are being reported on an average. ICMR has conducted more than 10 million tests in the country so far, in which more than 742,000 cases and more than 20,600 deaths have been reported so far.
