Delhi Records Coldest December Day In 22 Years

Entire north India, including Delhi, is currently in the grip of a cold wave. On Thursday morning, there is biting cold in Delhi-NCR and a thick layer of fog prevails there.

In Delhi, cold has broken a 22-year record, with the temperature at 6 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning. According to the Met Office, after 1997, the maximum number of cold days have been recorded in the month of December this year.

For the time being, there seems to be no respite from the cold and there will be no change in the weather for the next two days. The Met Office has predicted that the minimum temperature could reach 4 degrees in the coming days. 

While some schools have been closed due to the cold, others have changed their time-tables.

Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index in Delhi-NCR crossed the 350 mark, which is the ‘very poor’ category. On Delhi’s Lodhi Road, in the morning, PM 2.5 was 322 and PM 10 was 181. In Chandni Chowk, PM 2.5 was 540 and PM 10 was 495. Apart from this, near Delhi airport, PM 2.5 was 332 and PM 10 was 219, while in Noida, PM 2.5 was 339 and PM 10 was 230.
