India COVID-19 Cases Mount To 18,601, Death Toll 5
Despite it being 26 days since the lockdown was implemented, coronavirus cases in the country show no signs of stopping.

According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, 18,601 people have contracted the coronavirus and the death toll stands at 590.


The Health Ministry informed that 1,336 new patients have been found in the past 24 hours and 47 people have succumbed to the disease.

At present, the total number of active patients in the country has reached 18,601 and 3,252 people have been discharged from hospitals.

The highest number of coronavirus patients (4,666) have been found in Maharashtra and 232 people have died here. Despite all the strict measures adopted by the state government, there is no decline in the number of patients. 

Meanwhile, in Goregaon, a private diagnostic centre, Suburban Diagnostics, has started coronavirus testing on the lines of South Korea. 

This diagnostic centre has been made on the Western Expressway. Mohd. Rizwan, a technician working here, said that after taking an online appointment, anyone can come here in her car and give the sample while sitting in the car. The test report is sent online in 24 hours.

Amid this, the Central government has ordered that the canteens of all ministries and departments should remain closed. The Central government has said that this step is being taken as a precaution.
