53 Journalists Contract Coronavirus In Mumbai

After police, doctors and health workers, journalists are now contracting the coronavirus disease. 53 journalists have been infected with coronavirus in Mumbai.

Last week, a press team organized a camp to test 168 journalists and cameramen in Mumbai. According to reports received on Sunday, 53 out of 168 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Most of the journalists infected with the virus are believed to be from electronic media.

According to Amey Ghole, Chairman Mumbai Municipal Health Committee, “168 people were tested for corona infection, 53 of whom are tested positive. All of them will be quarantined.”

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had reportedly asked the municipality to organize a special camp for the Corona test following the request of the TV Journalist Association and a government press team.

Among those who tested positive, many had no symptoms of coronavirus. The numbers may rise as more journalists get tested.

The COVID-19 tests of journalists and cameramen were conducted on April 7 and 8 under the supervision of Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. The camp was organized near the Mumbai Press Club. In the wake of the Coronavirus, journalists and cameramen have been advised to use masks in public and use sanitizers to wash their hands.
