Anna Hazare: BJP Exploited Me For Political Gains

Anna Hazare, who made headlines with his anti-corruption movement in 2011, has levelled a sensational allegation on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Hazare is currently on a hunger strike in his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra over the appointment of a Lokpal.

Hazare has alleged that the BJP exploited him during protest movements in 2011 to acquire power at the Centre. He said, “Yes, the BJP used me in 2014. Everyone knows that the BJP came to power due to the Lokpal movement organised by me, and the Aam Aadmi Party too. Now I have no respect left for them.”

Hazare said that the Narendra Modi-led government is misleading people and taking the country towards dictatorship.

Blaming the last Maharashtra government led by Devendra Fadnavis for lying blatantly for five years, he said, “Till when will they keep lying? The government has only disappointed the people. The state government’s claim that 90% of my demands have been met is also a lie.”

Hazare said that those people who took advantage of his protest movements in 2011 have now turned away from his demands and have done nothing to fulfil those demands.

Hazare made this statement on the sixth day of his ongoing indefinite hunger strike. He has even threatened to return his Padma Bhushan award if his demands are not met.
