Nationwide protests continue to be held against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). On Friday too, protests will take place in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), Mumbai and several states across the country.

In Delhi, a protest will be held outside the U.P. Bhawan against the citizenship law. Students from Jamia Millia Islamia and several organisations will take part in this protest.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, an inquilab morcha has been organised in Azad Maidan against the citizenship law. 

The U.P. government is in alert in light of the protests against the citizenship law. The government has tightened security in U.P. and deployed police force in large numbers before Friday prayers.

Apart from this, the internet has been shut down in 14 districts of U.P. Last Friday, violent protests had taken place against the citizenship law in several cities of U.P.

Meanwhile, police have stepped up arrests of protesters on a large scale in U.P. According to the police, 1,113 protesters have been arrested till now and 327 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed.

U.P. Police are also keeping a sharp watch on social media. U.P. Police have arrested 124 people till now and filed FIRs against 93 people. Also, they have confirmed the deaths of 19 people.
