Delhi: Second Suicide in 10 Days at AIIMS Trauma C

Two patients have committed suicide in Delhi's AIIMS Trauma Centre within 10 days. Now a 32-year-old patient hailing from Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district committed suicide by hanging himself in the washroom. The patient has been identified as Raj Amani Patel.

The incident took place at 5 am in the morning on Thursday. When the hospital staff saw Raj hanging from a noose in the washroom, they informed the police. Doctors at AIIMS Trauma Centre say that Raj Amani was undergoing treatment for a long time. He was struggling with intestinal problems and wanted to get his surgery done. He may have fallen victim to depression during this time. No suicide note has been recovered from his pocket.

This is the second suicide incident in AIIMS Trauma Center in the last ten days. Earlier on July 6, coronavirus infected journalist Tarun Sisodia allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the Trauma Center and died. In the high-profile case, the Health Ministry had set up an inquiry after the report of which the Medical Superintendent of the Trauma Center was suspended.

Surprisingly, despite this action, security and vigilance arrangements at AIIMS Trauma Center have not been fixed and now the second case of suicide has come to light.
