Srinagar: Two J&K Policemen Killed By Terrorists On Independence Day Eve
On the eve of Independence Day, terrorists have attacked the security forces in the outskirts of Srinagar. In the attack carried out a day before Independence Day, two personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed and one was injured. After the attack, the terrorists managed to escape; a search operation is underway.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, terrorists opened fire on one near the Naugam bypass outside Srinagar. During this, three soldiers were injured but two died during treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Ashfaq Ahmed and Fayyaz Ahmed, while the injured young man Mohammad Ashraf is in critical condition. All the soldiers were posted in IRP Battalion-20 of Jammu and Kashmir Police. It is not yet known who the attackers were, but according to the security forces, terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed may be behind it.
During the attack, apart from the J&K Police personnel, soldiers of other security forces were also present; who were also targeted. Earlier on Wednesday, there was an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Pulwama in which the army killed one terrorist but two soldiers were also injured. One of them died during treatment.
