Angel Di Maria's heroic brace against his former club helped Thomas Tuchel's PSG claim a 3-0 home win over Real Madrid in their Champions League Group A opening game on Wednesday.

PSG know for their fierce attacking forwards were playing without the likes of Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappe & Edinson Cavani while Los Blancos definitely missed their captain and star defender, Sergio Ramos.

He fired home with 14 minutes played after Juan Bernat's cut-back before he magnificently curled in from outside the area in the 33rd minute after some fine work by Idrissa Gueye.

Gareth Bale had a goal disallowed soon after for Madrid by VAR due to handball and PSG netted the third in right before stoppage time after Bernat chipped to fellow full-back Thomas Meunier, who volleyed into the net.

Real, European champions three years in a row from 2016-18 who eliminated PSG in the last 16 in 2017-18, failed to register a shot on target and suffered their first defeat of the season.

"We lacked intensity, we never got into the game, we created very few chances," Real coach Zinedine Zidane said at a news conference.

"Before anyone asks a question... If someone asks me if we're going to win the Champions League, I'm out of here," PSG coach Thomas Tuchel said after the match.
