Commercial vehicles were the most-hit, with sales down 83.83%. In June last year, 64,976 commercial vehicles were sold, which came down to 10,509 in June this year.

Similarly, the retail sales of passenger vehicles fell by 38.34%. In June 2019, 2,05,11 passenger vehicles were sold but in June this year, only 1,26,417 vehicles were sold.

President of FADA Ashish Harshraj Kale said that with the increasing number of coronavirus infections, the automobile sector in the country saw a decline, having a big impact in cities. Due to harvesting and arrival of monsoon, rural markets witnessed more demand in the sale of tractors and two-wheelers as compared to urban areas.

According to the reports, this year's sales of vehicles were in the range of 15% to 35%, except for the Tractor segment, which looks set to clock a positive annual growth.
