No Win For India Despite Multiple Nominations At E
India has yet again suffered a setback at the world-famous Emmy Awards which recognise outstanding works in the Television industry. Despite several nominations in various categories, none of the Indian TV series could bag a single award at the Emmys held in New York on November 25.

The Netflix show ‘Lust Stories’ had been nominated for Best TV Movie or Mini-Series in this year’s Emmy Awards. Meanwhile, Radhika Apte had been nominated for Best Actress, the Netflix show ‘Sacred Games’ had been nominated for Best Drama Series, ‘The Remix’ had been nominated for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment and ‘Witness: India’s Forbidden Love’ was nominated for Best Documentary.

But the jury of the Emmy Awards did not find any Indian nomination strong enough.

This year’s Best Movie or Mini-Series award went to the Australian thriller series ‘Safe Harbour’. The Best Actress award went to Hungarian actress Marina Gera and the Best Drama Series award was given to British crime drama ‘McMafia’.

The Best Non-Scripted Entertainment award went to the British show ‘The Real Full Monty: Ladies’ Night’. The Best Documentary award was won by the Netherlands’ ‘Bellingcat -- Truth In A Post-Truth World’, written and directed by Hans Pool.

In 2018, there was just one nomination from India for the Emmy Awards. The Amazon Prime series ‘Inside Edge’ had been nominated for the Best Drama Series then.

This year, the Emmy Awards function was held in New York’s Manhattan, where Bollywood stars like Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were also present.
