Cyclone 'Bulbul' Triggers Heavy Rain Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory related to cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ and warned of heavy rainfall on November 9 and 10. Many NDRF teams have been deployed keeping in view the alert for heavy rainfall in Odisha, West Bengal, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya.
Cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ is expected to cross West Bengal’s Sagardeep and Sundarban Delta and Bangladesh’s Khepupara. Given the storm, winds are expected to reach a speed of 135 km per hour.
NDRF has deployed 10 teams to deal with the storm in West Bengal. One team each has been deployed at Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Puri and Jagatsinghpur to deal with the situation. Eleven teams have been put on alert at battalion headquarters. Two teams have been kept ready in Andaman-Nicobar and Port Blair. All teams possess wireless and satellite communications equipment and have equipment like tree cutters and pole cutters to deal with the situation after landfall. Watch the full report here:
