Amid this, several countries, including India, have cancelled flights bound for China.

An alert has been issued for the coronavirus in India too and several suspected patients have been found in various Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and in the state of Kerala. All the patients have been kept under observation.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry issued an advisory on Wednesday, appealing to Indian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to China. It also said that people who visited China on or after January 1, 2020, should inform the nearest Health Centre about it. The Ministry has also issued a helpline number 011-23978046.

The World Health Organisation has called an emergency meeting on coronavirus on Thursday, in which a global health emergency related to coronavirus could be declared.
