All 4 Nirbhaya Convicts Hanged In Tihar Jail
All four convicts in Delhi’s Nirbhaya gangrape case were hanged together at 5.30 a.m. on Friday at Tihar Jail.
After the hanging, Nirbhaya’s parents said that their daughter will be happy today. People present outside Tihar jail appeared very happy and distributed sweets while celebrating.
Justice was finally delivered after seven years, three months and four days in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape case that took place in national capital Delhi. However, the convicts - Vinay, Akshay, Mukesh and Pawan Gupta - tried to defer their hanging till the last minute. A hearing on their petition was held at the Supreme Court at 2.30 a.m. and the court later dismissed the petition. This is the first time that four convicts have been hanged together at Tihar Jail. Speaking on the execution, Nirbhaya’s parents said that their daughter will be happy today. After all four convicts were hanged till death, people who had gathered outside Tihar Jail appeared elated and distributed sweets while celebrating. People said that today is a very auspicious day for every daughter of the country and for people who love justice. The Nirbhaya gangrape incident, which took place on December 16, 2012 in the national capital Delhi, had shaken the conscience of the entire nation. Nirbhaya had later died in a hospital on December 29, 2012 while undergoing treatment for her life-threatening injuries.
