Delhi Polls: AAP Announces Candidates For All 70 Seats, Drops 15 Sitting MLAs
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stepped up its preparations for the Assembly elections to be held in Delhi next month. AAP announced the names of candidates on all 70 Delhi Assembly seats on Tuesday night.
While the party has given tickets to 46 existing Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), 15 existing MLAs have been denied tickets. Apart from this, AAP has given tickets to eight women candidates this time, as against six women candidates in the last elections.
Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Manish Sisodia congratulated all the candidates after the list was released.

CM Arvind Kejriwal (from New Delhi), Deputy CM Manish Sisodia (from Patparganj), ministers Kailash Gehlot, Satyendra Jain, Rajendra Pal Gautam and all other ministers will contest from their existing seats. Apart from this, AAP has fielded new faces on the four seats which are currently with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party has given the ticket for the Matia Mahal seat to five-time MLA Shoaib Iqbal. Prahlad Singh has been given the ticket from Chandni Chowk, which is Alka Lamba’s seat. Three candidates who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections -- Atishi Marlena, Dilip Pandey and Raghav Chadha -- have also been given tickets. Meanwhile, parties have also given tickets to several defectors, among which are Congress leader and ex-Member of Parliament (MP) Mahabal Mishra’s son Vinay, who has been given the ticket from Dwarka, from where former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s grandson Adarsh Shastri is currently the MLA. After the declaration of names of candidates, the party is being accused of serious charges such as selling tickets. Narayan Dutt Sharma, MLA from Delhi’s Badarpur seat, has accused the party of selling the ticket for Rs 21 crore. In the 2015 Assembly elections, AAP had won 67 out of 70 seats and BJP had won three seats. Polling for the Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8 and the results will be declared on February 11. The last date for filing nominations is January 21.Important Announcement :
