Floods Claim More Than 1600 Lives, 22 Lakh People
This year, the monsoon’s impact continues even after the month of September has ended. Floods have badly affected the lives of people in many states. People in large numbers have had to leave their homes due to floods and more than 1,600 people have died in 14 states of the country.

This year, the monsoon rains in September have broken a 102-year record. Due to rains and floods, 1,685 people have died in 14 states of the country and 22 lakh people have been displaced from their homes.


The highest number of deaths have been recorded in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala and Gujarat.

Due to heavy rainfall and floods, in Maharashtra, there have been 377 deaths while in Madhya Pradesh 255, in West Bengal 225, in Kerala 180, in Gujarat 150, in Karnataka 105, in Assam 93, in Uttarakhand 110 and in Himachal Pradesh 31 people have died.

Heavy rains and floods continue to wreak havoc in all districts of UP and Bihar. Here, with rains in just September, around 200 deaths have been recorded. Storms occurring at the start of this monsoon also led to deaths on a large scale.


Meanwhile, according to a report shared with the Home Ministry, till September 30, 1,685 people had died and assets worth more than
Rs 1,800 crore had been destroyed in flood-affected states.
