Modi Heckled By Protestors Outside Houston Event Venue

Even as PM Narendra Modi was addressing the ‘Howdy Modi’ event at the NRG Stadium in America’s Houston on Sunday, a group of protestors gathered outside the stadium and chanted slogans like ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’. In a massive demonstration, the protestors raised their voices against the clampdown imposed in Kashmir and increasing incidents of mob lynching in India.

As soon as Modi’s cavalcade reached the NRG Stadium, he had to face a huge protest from people holding placards and posters. The protestors were, overwhelmingly, of Indian-origin. They were protesting against rising incidents of mob lynching, continuing security clampdown in Kashmir and human rights violations in India.

Not limited to the slogan ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’, the demonstrators raised other slogans like ‘Modi Is A Killer!’ and some could be seen holding posters that said ‘Modi Is A Hitler!’

This is not the first time that Modi has come in for such censure in the United States. On September 24, after the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation declared it would be conferring Modi with the Global Goalkeeper Award, various human rights organisations and Nobel Peace Prize winners had strongly objected to it. Various human rights organisations also held a ‘Justice for All’ protest in front of the Gates Foundation Headquarters in Seattle.
