The first death of a doctor due to the coronavirus in the country has taken place in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

According to Chief Medical Health Officer Pravin Jadia, the infected doctor was undergoing treatment at the Gokuldas Hospital but after his condition worsened, he was shifted to the Aurobindo Hospital.

However, here too, his condition remained stable and he passed away on Thursday morning.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote, “People of the state pray to God with folded hands to grant peace to the soul of the doctor who became a martyr while fighting COVID-19 and protecting the invaluable lives of others.”

Madhya Pradesh’s Indore is struggling the most with the onslaught of the coronavirus. While the number of infected patients here has reached 213, the death toll stands at 22.

The total number of coronavirus patients in the state has reached 400.

There is an atmosphere of turmoil in the Health Department of Madhya Pradesh due to the coronavirus. Around 50 patients in capital Bhopal are from the Health Department.

Amid this, doctors from Bhopal AIIMS have written a letter in which they have said that the police have assaulted doctors posted on duty.

Dr Vivek Chouksey, posted in Bhopal AIIMS, has posted a tweet and said that the police assaulted two doctors while they were returning from emergency duty.

Incidents of assault and misbehaviour with doctors, nurses and other medical staff have been reported in Delhi, Mumbai and several states.
