Rang De Basanti Cast Add Voice To Anti-CAA Protest
Protests have been held against the Citizenship Act and NRC countrywide over the past few days. Along with college students around the country, politicians and common citizens are also standing up against it. Now, the star cast of 2006 Bollywood blockbuster, ‘Rang De Basanti’, join in a twitter protest against the CAA and the police action against students in the country.

From the film’s director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to actors Siddharth, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor and Soha Ali Khan; all have opposed it.

While Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra participated in the protest against the Citizenship Act at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on Thursday, actor Siddharth took to Twitter and shared a dialogue from the film: ‘Ab bhi jo na khaula woh khoon nahi hai paani hai... Jo desh ke kaam na aaye woh bekaar jawaani hai’. He also said that revolution is the life-blood of democracy.

Soha Ali Khan tweeted: “The right to peaceful protest is fundamental to ideals of democracy and constitutionalism. Please keep the protests non-violent and those in governance please exercise restraint.” She also said, “Our children and students should feel safe on their campuses and not fearful of the police.”

Actor Kunal Kapoor said, “It shocks me, how many educated, seemingly rational people I know are completely bigoted. And not just on religious lines, but also on the lines of caste.”

Atul Kulkarni wrote on Twitter, “Discrimination is like a termite which doesn’t stop at the surface but eventually eats up into the core.”

However, amid all this, superstar Aamir Khan, who played the role of Chandrashekhar Azad in the film has not said anything till now. Sharman Joshi, the other actor in the film, has also maintained silence.
