The Central Government has approved the partial reopening of schools closed since March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

During the first phase, only classes from 9th to 12th have been allowed to open from September 21.


In the SOP issued by the Centre, students will come to school on a voluntary basis subject to written permission of parent/guardian.

Students taking the class must wear face covers/masks.

One student will have to sit at least six feet away from the other student.

Notebook, pens/pencil, eraser, water bottle etc. will not be shared among students.

Spitting anywhere on the school campus shall be strictly prohibited.

Swimming pools and other sports-related activities shall remain closed.

Mandatory thermal screening of students and teachers at the time of entry in the school.

If someone's temperature is found to be symptomatic, the people will be referred to the nearest health centre.

However, schools in the Containment Zones will be closed for now. Students and school staff living in the Containment Zones will not be allowed to go to open schools in other areas.

The schools which were made quarantine centres will be properly sanitised and deep cleaned before partial functioning is resumed.

Online teaching in schools will continue as before and will be encouraged.

Up to 50% of the staff and students have been allowed to attend school.
