Awantipora Encounter Kill Three Terrorists
The security forces continue to carry out ‘Operation All-Out’ to eliminate militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
Three terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed in J&K’s Awantipora while a Junior Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army was killed in Nowshera town during an encounter between the security forces and the terrorists on Tuesday.
Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about a group of militants hiding there. During the operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to the gunfight. "As the security forces closed on the hiding militants, they fired triggering an encounter. Firing exchanges are still going on in the area," a police officer said. Some incriminating material including arms and ammunition was also recovered. On October 16, security forces had killed three militants in a five-hour encounter in Anantnag.
