Day 35: Anti-CAA Protests from Shaheen Bagh
Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) are underway in various parts of the country.

Saturday is the 35th day of protests against the CAA and NRC in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area.

Protesters have been striking there for the past 35 days despite severe cold and rainfall and are not ready to budge under any circumstances.

On Friday, the Delhi Police again appealed to the protesters to move away from the road because it was causing a lot of problems for people. Earlier, on Thursday, Delhi Police had appealed to the women protesters of Shaheen Bagh to shift the protest elsewhere, where they would be provided full security.

Meanwhile, a large protest against CAA and NRC was held outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid on Friday. Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad also took part in this protest, where he read out the Preamble to the Constitution.

Congress leader P Chidambaram joined a protest against CAA and NRC at Kolkata’s Park Circus Ground on Friday. Protests against CAA and NRC by Muslim women are also underway in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow.
