India Wins Second ODI Against Australia By 36 Runs
India defeated Australia by 36 runs in the second match of the three-match one-day series at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Friday.

With an impressive score of 80 runs against Australia, Lokesh Rahul was declared Player of the Match.


With this win, the three-match one-day series has been levelled at 1-1 and now, the third and final match of the series will be played at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

In the second match, Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first. India had a superb start and both openers - Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan - played well.

After the two openers were dismissed, captain Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul steadied the team and both scored half centuries. Later, India scored 340 runs in 50 overs at a loss of six wickets and set a target of 341 runs for Australia to win the match.

Playing for India, Shikhar Dhawan scored 96 runs, while Lokesh Rahul made 80 runs and captain Virat Kohli scored 78 runs. Bowling for Australia, Adam Zampa took three wickets and Kane Richardson took two wickets.

Chasing the target of 341 runs, Australia had a poor start and its opening batsman David Warner was dismissed for just 15 runs.

After this, captain Aaron Finch, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschangne steadied the team and took the score forward. But no Australian player proved effective once these three players were dismissed.

Later, the entire team was dismissed for 304 runs in 49.1 overs and India won the match by 36 runs. Steven Smith scored the most runs - 98 - for Australia.

Bowling for India, Mohammed Shami took three wickets, while Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets each.
