J&K: DSP Caught With Hizbul Men Will Be Treated As
Jammu and Kashmir Police will treat as a terrorist DSP Davinder Singh, who was arrested along with two militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam on Saturday.

On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Inspector General Vijay Kumar held a press conference and said that DSP Davinder Singh will be dealt with in the same manner as terrorists.

The J&K Police had taken Singh into custody, along with two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, on Saturday, when Singh was taking the two militants out of Kashmir.

Among the two arrested militants, one has been identified as Naveed Babu, a top Hizbul commander and the other has been identified as one Altaf.

Before his arrest, Singh was posted at Srinagar airport. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry on August 15, 2019.

Amid this, Singh’s connection to Afzal Guru, who was convicted for the 2001 Parliament attack, is also coming to the fore in media reports.

Social activist Kavita Krishnan has written in a tweet that Afzal Guru had mentioned an official named Davinder Singh in his letter. She also claimed that Singh had admitted to torturing Guru and that Guru had said that he was hanged for the work that Singh had asked him to do.

Apart from Krishnan, senior advocate Prashant Bhushan also said that Singh was involved in the Guru affair and that Singh had been saved for a long time, going back to the Guru case.

Meanwhile, three militants died in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama’s Tral on Sunday.
