The Kiwis dominated play on the first day of the first test between India and New Zealand, which is being played at Wellington’s Basin Reserve since Friday.

The toss was won by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and he invited India to bat first. Indian batsmen got off to a poor start and could not hold onto their wickets in front of Kiwi bowlers.


Prithvi Shaw was out at the score of 16 runs. After this, India’s second wicket fell at the score of 35 runs and Cheteshwar Pujara was out after making 11 runs. Five runs had just been added to the team’s score, when captain Virat Kohli was declared out after making two runs.

After this, opening batsman Mayank Agrawal was out after making 34 runs at the score of 88 runs. India’s fifth wicket fell at 101 runs and Hanuma Vihari was out after making seven runs. 

Later, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant steadied the team and took the score forward. By tea, India had made 122 runs at the loss of five wickets. However, rain started amid this, due to which the game for the last session of the first day could not be played.

Kyle Jamieson, who debuted for New Zealand, has taken the most - three - wickets. This is the 100th test for New Zealand’s Ross Taylor, who has become the first player in the world to play 100 matches each in Test, ODI and T20 series.
