'Pagalpanti Tanks, 'Frozen 2' Scores Big At The Big Office
Not Bollywood, but Hollywood ruled the Box Office this weekend, with Frozen 2 raking it in on the back of the worldwide success.
Hindi film ‘Pagalpanti’, which released on November 22, has fared poorly at the box office. But Hollywood film ‘Frozen 2’, which released at the same time, has had a good run at the box office and has shattered many records around the world.
According to the website Box Office India, on the first day, ‘Pagalpanti’ had a collection of Rs 5 crore, on the second day it earned Rs 6 crore 25 lakh and on the third day, it brought in Rs 8 crore 25 lakh. This means that in the first three days, the total collection of this film was Rs 19 crore 50 lakh. The total budget of the film was Rs 85 crore. ‘Pagalpanti’ is a comedy, which stars John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Urvashi Rautela, Kriti Kharbanda, Ileana D’Cruz and Pulkit Samrat. The story of the film revolves around three friends who face a lot of upheaval in life. Meanwhile, animated film ‘Frozen 2’, which released at the same time as ‘Pagalpanti’, has set new records at the box office. On the first day, this film had a collection of Rs 3 crore 25 lakh, on the second day, it made Rs 6 crore 75 lakh and on the third day, it brought in Rs 8 crore 25 lakh. This means that on the opening weekend, its total collection was Rs 18 crore 25 lakh. In cinema halls in the US and Canada, this film had a collection of $127 million and it has earned $350 million around the world till now. It is the first animated film released in the month of November with such earnings. ‘Frozen 2’ is the imaginary story of Princesses Anna and Elsa, through which a message for the environment has been sent out.
