Air Pollution Chokes National Capital
Pollution in Delhi-NCR has reached dangerous levels again. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was above 500 in most areas of Delhi-NCR on Thursday as well. All schools in Delhi-NCR have been shut till November 15 in view of the growing pollution.

Entire Delhi-NCR was covered in a blanket of smog on Thursday morning too. Also, the layer of mist and fog has now become denser.


On Thursday, AQI in most areas of Delhi-NCR was recorded as ‘very poor’. In the morning, AQI was above 500 in many areas of Delhi-NCR.

In Delhi’s Lodhi Road area, on Thursday morning, PM 2.5 was 473 and PM 10 was 394. In Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area, PM 2.5 was 532 and PM 10 was 751. Apart from this, near Delhi airport, PM 2.5 was 538 and PM 10 was 511. In Noida, PM 2.5 was 514 and PM 10 was 486.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Environment Pollution Prevention and Control Authority (EPCA) ordered that all government and private schools in Delhi-NCR should be closed till November 15. Also, the ban on hot mix plants and stone crushers in Delhi-NCR has been extended till November 15. The EPCA has advised people to avoid going outside and work from home, wherever possible.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court pulled up and issued notices to the Central government, the Delhi government and governments of neighbouring states for being unable to control the growing pollution in Delhi. The court also asked them to find solutions to pollution by means of hydrogen-based vehicles instead of diesel-run vehicles.
