COVID-19 Cases Rise To 3,39,000 Globally, US Death Toll Hits 417
At least 3,39,645 people have contracted the novel-Coronavirus and 14,717 have died, according to a tracker managed by Johns Hopkins University.
As of Sunday, the virus has killed 417 people in the US out of more than 33,000 cases, the tally said.
While in India, the infected cases have jumped to 415 across the country, with Maharashtra reporting the highest number of cases at 89. Meanwhile, the Centre and State Governments scramble to halt the virus spread as India observed its first curfew on Sunday, with citizens staying indoors and emerging only for a few minutes at 5 pm to ring bells and bang on steel plates, a gesture to thank the country’s health workers. Metro lines and interstate passenger trains were shut down until March 31, grinding the country to a halt.
