India Reports 7,466 New Cases Within 24 Hours, In Largest One-Day Spike

Just two days before the fourth phase of lockdown is over, there has been a record single-day spike in the number of COVID-19 patients.

Over the last 24 hours, 7,466 new cases —the country’s biggest one-day surge so far, and 175 deaths have been reported across the country, according to the Health Ministry's latest bulletin.

The numbers raise the nationwide total past 1.65 lakh and the death toll above 4,700.

India has 89,987 active cases, becoming the ninth most affected country in the world, just below Germany and France in the world table.
