Bhima Koregaon Case: DU Professor PK Vijayan Summo
The National Investigative Agency investigating Bhima Koregaon violence case on Friday summoned another Delhi University professor PK Vijayan for questioning.

Prem Kumar Vijayan, a professor at the English department at Delhi University, was asked by the NIA to appear at the headquarters of the investigating agency in Delhi.


The NIA has so far arrested 12 people in the Bhima Koregaon violence case. MT Hany Babu, Associate Professor at English’s department at DU, was also arrested in the last week of last month.

Teachers and student organisations have been continuously protesting over the release of Hany Babu and meanwhile, Professor PK Vijayan, who teaches English in Hindu College, has been summoned.

Professor PK Vijayan is also associated with the committee set up for the release of suspended DU professor GN Saibaba, who has been convicted by a Maharashtra court for having links with the Naxals and is serving life imprisonment. It is believed that Professor Vijayan may also be questioned in this matter.

Following this NIA summon, the Hindi College Coordination Committee has issued a statement. It says that Professor Vijayan is a well-known academic. His commitment to issues like democratic rights, equal education, social justice is well known. Due to this, government agencies are trying to intimidate and harass them on the pretext of interrogation.

This statement demands Professor PK Vijayan be not harassed. Also, there has been a demand for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Bhima Koregaon violence. The committee has also said that the main accused of Bhima Koregaon violence are people like Milind Ekbote and Sambhaji Bhide who should be arrested.
