Have You Got Your FASTag?
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made it mandatory for all vehicles plying on national highways to use FASTag from December 1.
The government says that with the implementation of FASTag, people travelling on highways will not have to wait at toll plazas. Also, it will help avoid the scuffles which usually take place.
From December 1, 2019, all vehicles passing through toll plazas on national highways will have to install a tag based on Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID). The central government says that with its implementation, people will no longer have to be inconvenienced in long queues and they will also save fuel. The use of FASTag will also help reduce pollution from vehicular traffic. The most important thing is that a FASTag can be purchased from any private bank like Axis, IDFC, HDFC and ICICI and its maximum cost could be Rs 100. An amount above Rs 20,000 is not permitted in the FASTag prepaid wallet. Watch the full report here:
