MP: Violating Section 144, Crowds Throng To Welcom
All religious sites in the country are closed to prevent the coronavirus contagion from spreading. This rule is in place in Madhya Pradesh too, which is among the states most severely-affected by the coronavirus.

However, an anomaly was witnessed recently in the Sagar district of the state.

When Jain monk Praman Sagar Maharaj reached the Banda area of the district along with other saints, a mob of people flooded the streets to catch a glimpse of him.

People forgot Section 144, did not even wear masks and social distancing went for a toss.

As soon as the Jain monks arrived, people surrounded them on all sides and got engaged in giving them a rousing welcome.

Shockingly, some police personnel can also be seen in the crowds assembled there.

With the video going viral on social media, the Sagar district administration cut a sorry figure and so, a cover-up operation began.

Praveen Bhuria, ASP, Sagar said only that action is being taken after conducting an inquiry.

The Jain community has a sizeable presence in the Sagar district and Jain monks keep visiting the area.

However, the question is when such movement is not allowed during the lockdown, then why did the administration give in to them?

So far, 12 people have contracted the coronavirus in Sagar district. While there are still seven active cases here, one patient has died.
